One Week in Kotor, Montenegro

In July 2021, we drove about an hour South from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Kotor, Montenegro.

We had a lovely week living and working remotely.

It was particularly special because we finally met in-person an online travel friend who also happens to be from central Florida too! She was traveling around the Balkans with her friend she met the previous year who was from Sweden:

Our Accommodations

Our private, covered outdoor workspace for Bill and I that overlooked Kotor Bay.

Cats of Kotor

I hope you like cats because the Cats of Kotor is a real thing here!

It can be hard to say NO when they’re so cute when they beg:

My 45th Birthday

During our week in Kotor, we celebrated my 45th birthday with an early morning hike to beat the heat up to the Kotor Fortress.

Here’s a pic from the hike UP to the top:

Here are some views of Kotor Bay from the top of the mountain from the Kotor Fortress:

I took this picture while we were hiking back down the mountain:

Conclusion

All in all, we only experienced a tip of the iceberg when it comes to Montenegro. I’m very keen on exploring further south along the coast, not just Kotor, as well as doing some hiking in the mountains. The same is true for Albania too which we never made it to! 😎

Hopefully this article inspires you to make a trip to the Balkans this summer – maybe even to Kotor, Montenegro.

Please reach out if you have any questions or need help with travel plans to Montenegro!
